The Dave Channel - For blokes

Advantages: The programming is quality repeats

Disadvantages: The name is a bit silly, but you get used to that

Do you know a bloke called Dave?

You must do, everyone knows a bloke called Dave.

I ask this because, it would seem that is the basic notion that the television channel Dave has been so named. Apart from also the fact that the name has connotations of 'blokeishness'. Other accounts say the name was thought up in honour of a character from Red Dwarf called Dave?

Whichever way you look at it the channel is there, and does show in general stuff for guys.

Dave grew out of the UKTV Gold brand. It is available on Freeview, so no worries in picking this up.

You can expect programmes such as The Catherine Tate Show, World Rally, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Mock the Week, Top Gear, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Red Dwarf, Bottom, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, QI, Have I Got News for You, and Little Britain. These are all repeats and most if not all of the ones I have mentioned have been spawned from the BBC.

I remember back in the olden days, people used to moan about repeats. Well, yes that was not welcome back then when the choice of channels was limited. But now that we have multiple channels of tat, it is good to know that at least some half decent 'quality' that we might have missed first time round is being aired again.

As a channel its output is quality, there is no denying that. There are no annoyances in the link to the adverts, in fact they are quite witty in places.

I do think the name is a bit stupid (not for people, for a telly channel), but I suppose you get used to it.

If you miss something, they have a '+1' channel called Dave Ja Vu, where you can catch up on what you missed an hour ago. Do you get it? Dave Ja Vu, you know De Ja Vu?

Oh hang on I have trotted out that one somewhere else before.

Summary: A great way to catch up on programming you missed
